Play Golf & Represent the Region
As part of the London & Home Counties Region, members have the opportunity to play golf and represent the region in golf matches against other GCMA regions and industry teams. Our Golf Days and Matches provide a fantastic way to:
- Enjoy competitive but friendly golf at top courses in the region.
- Network with fellow golf club managers in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
- Showcase your skills while representing the Region in inter-regional matches.
- Experience different courses and club hospitality across the country.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or just enjoy the game socially, these matches are a great way to get involved, meet new people, and strengthen connections within the GCMA community.

Regional Matchplay

Our annual matchplay is open to all LHC members and runs from April to the final in the autumn.
Captain’s Guest Day
Friday 19th June @ Tyrrells Wood GC
LHC Captain Rob Shaw hosts the Captain’s annual guest day at his wonderful club Tyrrells Wood.
Martin Yates Memorial Competition
Monday 6th July @ Royal Wimbledon GC
This team competition is held annually to remember our past colleague Martin Yates.
Past Captain’s Competition
Monday 14th September @ New Zealand GC
The LHC Past Captains’ competition is hosted annually at the iconic New Zealand Golf Club.
Christmas Golf and Lunch
Thursday 17th December @ Effingham GC
This is a time for all Managers and Teams to come together and enjoy golf and Christmas Lunch.
Regional Matchplay Competition
The Regional Matchplay takes place throughout the year, with the aim of completing all matches before the Christmas Lunch, when the trophy and prizes will be awarded.
Competition Rules & Format
- Matches will be played off full handicap difference in line with WHS recommendations.
- Men’s card and stroke index will be used for all matches.
- Ladies will play from the Red Tees, with the Standard Scratch difference added to their handicap.
- Matches should be played on a neutral course by mutual agreement. If travelling is excessive, please select a suitable midway venue. Secretaries at neutral venues (where the matchplay has been entered) should be contacted for permission to use their course.
Administration & Results
- Any competition date queries should be directed to Mo Brooker (Competition Convener).
- Match results must be sent to the Regional Manager and also entered into the Club Systems V1 App.
- Extensions will only be granted in extreme circumstances.
